Manchester United Injury List: Four Players Miss Hull City Premier League Opener

Manchester United started the 2026/27 Premier League season with four players unavailable through injury: Amad, Matthijs de Ligt, Mason Mount and Manuel Ugarte.

Manchester United began their 2026/27 Premier League campaign without four players who were unavailable because of injury as they travelled to face newly promoted Hull City at the MKM Stadium.

The players affected were Amad, Matthijs de Ligt, Mason Mount and Manuel Ugarte, with the four dealing with different injury concerns ahead of the opening-day fixture.

Amad – Knock

Amad was unavailable for the Premier League opener after suffering a knock.

The winger was therefore left out of Manchester United’s squad for the trip to Hull.

Matthijs de Ligt – Back Injury

Defender Matthijs de Ligt was another notable absentee.

De Ligt was dealing with a back problem and was not available for the opening fixture. His absence reduced Manchester United’s defensive options at the start of the new campaign.

Mason Mount – Knock

Mason Mount was also dealing with a knock heading into the opening weekend.

Manchester United had listed Mount as a doubt ahead of the match, and he ultimately did not feature against Hull City.

Manuel Ugarte – Knee Injury

Midfielder Manuel Ugarte was unavailable because of a knee injury.

Manchester United had previously confirmed that Ugarte was recovering from successful surgery following a knee-ligament injury sustained while representing Uruguay.

Unlike the other three players, Ugarte’s injury was therefore a more significant long-term concern rather than simply a matchday doubt.

United Begin Season Without Four Players

The absence of the four players meant that manager Michael Carrick had to begin the new Premier League campaign without several options in attack, defence and midfield.

United eventually named a starting XI featuring Senne Lammens, Noussair Mazraoui, Harry Maguire, Ayden Heaven, Luke Shaw, Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, Bryan Mbeumo, Bruno Fernandes, Patrick Dorgu and Matheus Cunha.

However, the absences could not be used as an excuse for the final result, as Hull City went on to beat Manchester United 2-0 in the opening fixture.

With the Premier League season now underway, United supporters will be watching closely for updates on when the four players can return to full fitness and become available for selection.
