The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the timetable for the WASSCE 2026 exams. The timetable is key particularly for teachers and students preparing for both practical projects or theory papers.

Here’s a quick breakdown to help you stay on track.

WASSCE Period: From April – June 2026

The exams are scheduled to run about three months, with practical and project work beginning from April 7, 2026 and theory papers following from April 27, 2026.

Key Dates to Remember:

  • Practical & Project Work: These will begin on Tuesday, 7th April 2026. Subjects like Basketry, Ceramics, Graphic Design, and Applied Technology have project work spread over several days.
  • Theory/Essay/Written Papers: It will start from 27th April, 2026 to 19th June, 2026.
  • Core Academic Papers: Major theory exams start in June.
    • Physics: Tuesday, 2nd June 2026
    • Social Studies / Civic Education: Tuesday, 2nd June 2026
    • Core Mathematics: Wednesday, 3rd June 2026

Three Crucial Notes for Candidates

  1. Split Sessions for Practicals: Be aware that many practical exams (like Forestry, Applied Electricity, and Basic Electricity) are held in two sessions (1st Set, 2nd Set and 3rd Set) on the same day. Check your timetable carefully to confirm which session you have been assigned to.
  2. Double-Check Durations: WAEC has noted that if the time on your question paper differs from the one in the official timetable, the time on the question paper is the one you should follow.
  3. Advanced Preparation for Visual Arts:
    • Paper 3A: Instructions will be sent to schools two weeks before the exam date.
    • Paper 3B: Question papers will be given to candidates two weeks in advance.
    • Paper 3C (Project Work): Candidates have six months within the exam year to execute their projects.

Students are advised to organizing your study schedule now, especially for practicals that require project work. It is important for all WASSCE candidates to keep an eye on the specific dates for each of their subject both core and elective and always confirm their session times with your teachers.

Good luck to all candidates preparing for WASSCE 2026.
