Daasebre Osei Bonsu III, the newly enstooled chief of Asante Mampong, has formally sworn allegiance to his people, taking an important step in the sacred process of assuming the Silver Stool. The ceremony was held on Monday, 5 January 2026, in accordance with longstanding Asante custom and tradition.

The allegiance oath signifies Daasebre Osei Bonsu III’s acceptance of the responsibilities, obligations and moral authority entrusted to him as Mamponghene. It also reaffirms the bond between the chief and the people he has been called to serve, grounded in loyalty, service and mutual respect.

The ceremony was witnessed by Nananom of the Asante Mampong Divisional Council, reflecting the collective authority of the traditional leadership. Also present were Nana Agyakoma Difie II, the Asante Mampong Hemaa, whose role is central to the selection and nomination of the chief, and Nana Yaa Asantewaa, Ejisuhemaa.

The event further drew the presence of key state officials, including the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, stressing the continued collaboration between traditional governance and the modern state in Ghana’s democratic and cultural life.

In line with Asante tradition, the process of enstoolment is not considered complete until the Mamponghene swears allegiance before the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. This final rite serves to legitimise the stool occupant within the wider Asanteman hierarchy and affirms loyalty to the Golden Stool.

Until that sacred obligation is fulfilled at the Manhyia Palace, Daasebre Osei Bonsu III’s role remains transitional. The impending allegiance to the Asantehene will formally seal his authority and position him fully as the occupant of the revered Silver Stool of Asante Mampong.

The enstoolment of Daasebre Osei Bonsu III comes at a significant moment for the Asante Mampong Traditional Area, as the people look forward to stable leadership, unity and renewed development under his reign.
