You Can Get a Ghanaian Passport Within 24 Hours
Ghanaians who require urgent travel documents can now apply for and receive a Ghanaian passport within one day, following the introduction of a super-expedited passport processing option by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The service is designed for applicants facing emergencies and urgent travel needs, while a regular, lower-cost option remains available for non-urgent cases.
This was announced by Ghana’s Hon. Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

Regular Passport Application
Applicants without urgent travel needs can apply for a Ghanaian passport at a fee of GH₵350, with processing and delivery completed within 15 days.
One-Day Emergency Passport Application
Applicants who meet the required criteria can access a same-day, 24-hour passport service at a fee of GH₵2,000, ensuring immediate processing and delivery.
“If you want to obtain a Ghanaian passport in one day, within 24 hours, same-day delivery, you can get it. Once you apply, you meet the criteria, and you pay the special rate. You will agree with me that this is such a demanding regime if you look at the workers who have to be working around the clock, because anytime you apply within 24 hours, you must get it.”
“So after all of these consultations and research, we decided that GH₵2,000 is a decent sum for that one-day super-expedited service. We are saying that if you do not really have an emergency, there is no urgency, there are no exigencies that compel you to apply for that, you can still opt for the efficient GH₵350 option, and under 15 days it will be delivered.”
