The Ministry of Health has informed the general public about the payment of salaries for over 6,000 nurses.
This announcement was made through a public release letter signed by Tony Goodman, Head of Health Training Institutions and Spokesperson.
It is important to note that in 2024, prior to the general elections, the NPP government employed approximately 13,500 nurses and midwives. According to the NDC government, after coming into power in 2025, there were inadequate financial clearances and documentation for this recruitment.
These issues, among other factors, were shared by Hon. Kwabena Akandoh Mintah, the Minister of Health. He further emphasized, during a press conference with the media following a series of demonstrations by the affected nurses and midwives, that the government would place them on the payroll and begin their salary payments in November 2025.
The government has now fulfilled this promise, as confirmed in the public release letter.
