Foreign Affairs Ministry Begins Delivery of Chip-Embedded Passports

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially begun the delivery of Ghana’s new chip-embedded passports, which feature enhanced security and meet international standards. On May 9, 2025, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, personally joined Ghana Post officials to deliver the first batch of the upgraded passports to applicants at their provided addresses.

During the handovers, the Minister took time to explain how to handle the new passports, which contain chips that store biometric information and meet the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) standards for global travel documents.

The collaboration with Ghana Post aims to ensure timely and secure delivery across the country, as part of the Ministry’s goal to provide efficient and client-focused services.
