The Uganda U 15 boys’ football team from St. Mary’s School Kitende has safely arrived in Accra, Ghana, ahead of the CAF African Schools Football Championship which kicks off on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. The team will be residing at the University of Ghana during the tournament.
St. Mary’s Kitende representing Uganda in the boys’ category has been drawn into Group A alongside Ghana the host team, South Africa, and Algeria. The team’s opening match is scheduled against Ghana at 11:00 AM local time at the University of Ghana Stadium .
The CAF African Schools Football Championship which is now in its third edition brings together U-15 boys’ and girls’ teams from across the continent. The tournament runs from April 23 to April 26, 2025 with all matches taking place at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra . St. Mary’s Kitende earned their spot in the continental finals by winning the CECAFA zonal qualifiers held at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, in December 2024. The team is under the guidance of experienced youth football coach Hassan Zungu .
The championship not only offers a platform for young talents to showcase their skills but also includes capacity building workshops on topics such as safeguarding, coaching, and medical training, aiming to provide a holistic development experience for the participants .
