Muslim leaders in Ghana have commended former President John Dramani Mahama for institutionalizing Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha as national public holidays. The recognition, they say, has strengthened religious inclusion and unity in the country.
In a statement, the Muslim Councils acknowledged Mahama’s decision as a significant step in respecting the cultural and religious diversity of Ghanaians. They urged leaders to continue promoting policies that uphold religious harmony and inclusivity.
Mahama, after his victory in the 2024 general elections has received increased support from sections of the Muslim community.
