Youth of Kpone Stage Protest Over Poor Infrastructure

The youth of Kpone in the Greater Accra Region have taken to the streets to protest against poor infrastructure in their community. The demonstration, held on Monday, drew scores of residents demanding urgent government attention to their plight.

Protesters carried placards and chanted slogans, voicing frustration over the deplorable state of roads, which they say has left motorists and pedestrians struggling daily. According to them, transport fares have increased as drivers complain about the cost of maintaining vehicles on such bad roads.

The demonstrators also highlighted a worsening water crisis in the area. Many residents say they have had to rely on water tankers for months, an expensive alternative that most households cannot afford.

Community leaders explained that the poor state of infrastructure is affecting not only daily life but also local businesses. Traders noted that customers are reluctant to travel to Kpone because of the poor roads, leading to declining sales.

The youth stressed that repeated petitions to authorities have gone unanswered. They accused government officials of neglecting their community despite contributing significantly to national revenue through industries based in the area.

Security personnel were deployed to ensure the protest remained peaceful. While no violence was reported, demonstrators vowed to intensify their actions if the government fails to respond within the coming weeks.

Leaders of the protest have called for immediate dialogue with relevant stakeholders. They insist that investment in Kpone’s infrastructure is long overdue and say they will not relent until their demands are addressed.
