Wesley Grammar School Bus Catches Fire at Kasoa Tollbooth

A school bus carrying students of Wesley Grammar School caught fire at the Kasoa Tollbooth on Friday, 28 November, sparking fear and panic but ending in relief after all 88 occupants managed to escape unharmed.

According to school authorities, the bus had 83 students and five teachers on board when smoke was first detected from the engine compartment. The driver quickly halted the vehicle, allowing teachers to guide the students out before the flames intensified.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as tense but orderly, as the young passengers were ushered to safety. Within moments, the fire engulfed the vehicle, reducing it to a shell.

Firefighters arrived promptly to put out the blaze, while emergency teams ensured all students were accounted for. No injuries were reported.

School officials expressed gratitude for the quick actions of the driver and staff, describing the incident as “a frightening moment that could have ended tragically.”

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, with preliminary indications suggesting a possible mechanical fault.
