The Catholic community across Ghana and beyond is celebrating Very Rev. Fr. Daniel Aboagye Danso, who marks 40 years in the priesthood, a journey rooted in faith, humility, and unwavering dedication to service.

Rev. Fr. Daniel Aboagye Danso was ordained on 27th July 1985 at St. Peter’s Cathedral Basilica, Kumasi, by Most Rev. Peter Akwasi Sarpong, now Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Kumasi. From that day forward, Rev. Fr. Aboagye Danso has committed his life to serving God and humanity, impacting lives through pastoral care, music ministry, education, and spiritual mentorship.

The 40th anniversary celebration took place at St. Edward Catholic Church, Kyekyewere – Afigya his hometown, where clergy, family, parishioners, and friends gathered in gratitude to honour his four decades of service.
In his remarks, Fr. Aboagye Danso shared his heartfelt thanks, recalling the personal struggles he faced during seminary formation. He recounted how those challenges led him to form a choral group while in the seminary, which became a source of encouragement and spiritual strength.

Over the last four decades, Fr. Aboagye Danso has served in various capacities across the Catholic Diocese of Konongo-Mampong, Kumasi Archdiocese in Ghana and the United States. From his early pastoral beginnings at Adansi Fomena, through his dedicated work in Obuasi, Kumasi, Jamasi, Kwabre-Kenyasi, Boamang–Afigya, and the USA (Texas and Iowa), to his current posting at Kwabre-Dumanofo since 2021, Very Rev.Fr. Aboagye Danso has exemplified what it means to be a true shepherd of God’s people.

Very Rev. Fr. Daniel Aboagye Danso expressed his deepest appreciation to his family, especially his uncle for their unwavering support throughout his life and ministry. He asked the congregation to thank them on his behalf for always standing by him through life’s challenges and triumphs.

Also present was Nana Owusu Koranteng, Kwabre Dumanafohene, who graced the occasion with his elders. Nana praised Fr. Danso’s humility, approachability, and generosity. He thanked the people of Kyekyewere and the family of Fr. Danso for gifting such a selfless leader to both the Church and the nation, and encouraged them to keep him in their prayers.

The celebration was attended by Catholic priests and pastors from the Diocese and across Ghana. The Adekye Nsoroma Choral Group, founded by Fr. Danso himself, gave a glorious and memorable choral performance that crowned the celebration with joy and reverence.

Fr. Aboagye Danso is also widely recognised as a gifted liturgical musician, with over 200 original compositions, including hymns, Mass settings, anthems, and seasonal songs in both English and Twi. He studied at St. Patrick’s College in Maynooth, Ireland, and later earned a Master of Philosophy in African Music at the University of Ghana, Legon. His music continues to enrich Catholic liturgy and inspire choirs across the country.
A heartfelt tribute from Mr. P.H.K. Owusu, former Secretary of the Diocesan Music and Liturgy Commission, described Fr. Danso as a living example of 1 Corinthians 1:27—”God chooses what is weak in the world to shame the strong.” His story is one of grace, perseverance, and a life anchored in faith.


The family of Rev. Fr. Danso also shared heartfelt congratulations on this milestone, describing his life as “a legacy of faith and harmony.” They expressed profound gratitude to God for sustaining him and prayed for continued strength and divine guidance as he enters the next chapter of his ministry.
As the Church celebrates this remarkable milestone, one prayer echoes across the Diocese and beyond, “Ad Multos Annos” which means, May God grant Very Rev. Fr. Daniel Aboagye Danso many more years of fruitful and grace-filled ministry.
