The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has inaugurated a new 16-member Governing Council to steer the affairs of the institution. The inauguration ceremony, held on Monday, 28 April 2025, was presided over by Ghana’s Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu.

Dr. Larry Lawson Kwaku Agbanu will chair the newly constituted Council, tasked with shaping policy and direction at one of Ghana’s leading professional universities.

Speaking at the event, the Minister congratulated members on their appointment and reaffirmed his commitment to non-interference in the university’s governance. He stressed the need for the Council to prioritise entrepreneurship training for students, citing Ghana’s growing unemployment rate as a national concern.
“The future of Ghana’s workforce depends on how well our graduates are prepared to create jobs, not just seek them,” Mr Iddrisu stated.
The new Council is expected to support the university’s strategic vision while addressing challenges within tertiary education.
