The Education Minister, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu to Address the Nation on Computerized School Placement System

Ghana’s Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, will on Wednesday, 27 August 2025, address the nation on the Computerized School Selection Placement System (CSSPS). The press conference, scheduled for 2:00pm at the Minister’s Conference Room, will provide updates and clarity on the placement process for students entering senior high schools.

The CSSPS, which places Junior High School graduates into various second-cycle institutions, has over the years sparked debate among parents and students, with concerns often raised about transparency, fairness, and accessibility. This year’s exercise is expected to attract heightened attention as thousands of BECE candidates await their placements.

According to the Ministry of Education, the briefing will serve as a platform to guide students and their families, address challenges from previous years, and assure the public of the system’s credibility. The Minister is also expected to outline measures to make the placement process smoother and more efficient.

Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Tamale South, is anticipated to give strong assurances on the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring that every eligible student is placed fairly. The session will also highlight efforts being made to improve educational opportunities and strengthen public confidence in the placement system.
