The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has issued a firm clarification regarding recent reports suggesting that Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd. (SML) has expanded its revenue assurance activities into the upstream petroleum and solid minerals sectors.
In a press release dated May 14, 2025, the GRA expressed concern over publications in various online and print media outlets – including Graphic Online and Business and Financial Times which reported that SML had unveiled a new oversight role in these extractive sectors.

The GRA stated unequivocally that its earlier directive, issued in April 2024, which suspended SML’s operations in the upstream petroleum and mineral sectors, remains in full effect. The Authority clarified that it has not authorized SML to resume or begin any activities under the 2023 Consolidation of Revenue Assurance Services Contract that pertains to those sectors.
“The Authority wishes to assure stakeholders in the aforementioned sectors and the general public of its unwavering commitment to protect the nation’s revenue with integrity and transparency,”

The statement was issued by GRA’s Communication and Public Affairs Department to correct the public record and reaffirm that any changes to contractual arrangements will be duly communicated through official channels.
