Sharaf Mahama, CEO of Legacy Rise Sports, delivered a compelling call to action at the 2025 Africa Business Conference hosted by Johns Hopkins University in Washington D.C. Addressing leaders, investors, and global changemakers, Mahama emphasized the transformative potential of Africa’s sports and entertainment sectors.
Speaking during a panel discussion on “Media, Marketing, and Entertainment”, Mahama highlighted how sports and entertainment represent Africa’s “soft power”and cultural force with the ability to change lives, shape narratives, and drive community development across the continent. He stressed that by investing in these dynamic industries, stakeholders can uplift youth, stimulate economic growth and challenge long standing stereotypes about Africa.
“As Africans, we must reclaim and elevate our stories through the universal languages of sport and creativity,” Mahama said. “Legacy Rise Sports is committed to nurturing talent, creating platforms, and attracting global investment that reflects the true spirit and potential of Africa.”

Mahama also participated in the high level investor session hosted by the Voice of Africa where he engaged with international partners interested in sustainable development across the continent. The presence of voices like Mahama’s at global forums signals a growing recognition of Africa’s creative economy as not just a cultural asset but a serious investment frontier.
