The Sekyere Kumawu District Education Directorate has honoured one of its most distinguished officers, Mr Jacob Nti Danso, at a grand retirement ceremony held at the Presbyterian Church Auditorium in Kumawu on Monday, 2 June 2025. Mr Danso, who served as Head of Supervision and Monitoring, retires after more than three decades of dedicated service to education in Ghana.
The event was chaired by District Director of Education Mr Kwame Oduro-Owusu and brought together a wide array of dignitaries including the MP for Kumawu, Hon Ernest Yaw Anim, representatives of Hon. Kwasi Amakwah the DCE for Sekyere Kumawu District Assembly, chiefs, religious leaders, educationists, security personnel, and students. The ceremony featured musical performances, poetic tributes, and personal stories celebrating the life legacy and the work work of Mr. Nti Danso.

Mr .Nti Danso began his teaching career in 1983 and rose through the ranks to occupy key positions within the Ghana Education Service. He played a major role in establishing the Sekyere Kumawu District Education Office in 2009 and served in various roles including Circuit Supervisor, EMIS Head, Assistant Headmaster of Bodomase Senior High/Technical School, and most recently, Head of Supervision and Monitoring. He also supported teacher development, mentoring many and producing a guidebook titled ” Beyond Promotion” for promotion exam candidates.

Outside the classroom, Mr Danso made a lasting impact through sports and youth development. He founded the Royals Volleyball Club in Bodomase, which has produced over 60 young athletes, some of whom received scholarships and national team call-ups. His work in the church and community further highlighted his commitment to holistic education and service.

In a tribute, MP Ernest Yaw Anim presented a 65-inch television to Mr. Nti Danso as a token of appreciation, praising his “selfless leadership and mentorship.”
Rev Daniel Gyasi Nimako of the Methodist Church also commended Mr. Nti Danso’s contributions to education, religion, and society, encouraging him to embrace retirement with reflection and care.

Religious leaders led by Pastor Jonathan Owusu prayed over Mr Danso and his wife, seeking blessings for their next chapter.
Speaking on behalf of retired educationists, Mr Felix Kwaku Kwadwoste praised Mr. Nti Danso’s professional discipline and took the opportunity to encourage younger teachers to prepare early for life beyond active service, advising them “to marry, start a family early, and plan ahead for life after retirement.”

District Director Mr. Kwame Oduro-Owusu described Mr. Nti Danso as a “pillar of the directorate” and committed to continuing to draw on his rich experience in education. He then stated that the good work and the legacy of Nti Danso would always be remembered.

In an emotional farewell, Mr Danso thanked all who had supported him throughout his career and during the ceremony. “Hard work truly pays,” he said, pledging to remain available to support the education service.

The occasion ended with the presentation of citations, gifts, and personal tributes in recognition of a career that has left a lasting legacy in Sekyere Kumawu and beyond.
