The Nigerian entertainment and academic worlds have been thrown into mourning following the death of veteran Nollywood actor and university lecturer, Dr. Columbus Irosanga. His passing was announced by actress Hilda Dokubo on Instagram, where she expressed deep sorrow, saying, “There can’t be a shortage of Angels in heaven that the few here are called home like this na! This one is heavy on Uniport, Rivers State, Nollywood.”
Dr. Irosanga was a household name in Nollywood, known for his powerful roles as a native doctor and spiritual leader in classic movies. His unforgettable performance as Igbudu in “Issakaba” (2001) made him a fan favorite, earning him recognition as one of the finest actors of his time.
But he was more than just an actor but also a respected academia. As a senior lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), he helped shape the next generation of actors and scholars in the Theatre Arts Department. His students admired him for his wisdom, talent, and ability to bring stories to life on and off screen.
