Paris Saint-Germain kicked off their Ligue 1 campaign with a gritty 2-1 victory over a resilient Le Havre AC side which featured Ghanaian international Andrew Dede Ayew, showing flashes of brilliance and determination at the Parc des Princes.
PSG opened the scoring early through Lee Kang-in, who found the net after a swift attacking build up. Despite PSG’s dominance in possession, Le Havre remained disciplined and dangerous on the counter. Their patience was rewarded early in the second half when Gautier Lloris leveled the score with a powerful header off a set piece which woke up the home support.
As the match progressed on, PSG increased the pressure, and it was substitute Ousmane Dembélé who made the difference by cutting inside and slotting home the winning goal in the 85th minute. His late strike sealed all three points for Luis Enrique’s men and gave PSG a strong start to the season.
The win came with a cost, however, as Gonçalo Ramos was forced off with an apparent ankle injury, raising concerns for PSG ahead of a packed fixture schedule.
