President Mahama Resumes Duties with Official Visits to Japan and Singapore

President John Dramani Mahama has officially resumed his duties and is set to embark on state visits to Japan and Singapore in the coming days.

The President’s resumption of work follows a period of national mourning after the tragic helicopter crash of August 6, which claimed the lives of eight Ghanaian officials. His return to official duties marks a new phase of leadership focus on governance, diplomacy, and economic cooperation.

According to the Presidency, the visits to Japan and Singapore will strengthen bilateral relations and open new avenues for collaboration in technology, trade, education, and infrastructure development. Both countries are key strategic partners for Ghana in its drive towards industrialisation and digital advancement.

President Mahama is expected to hold high-level meetings with Japanese and Singaporean leaders, with discussions centred on sustainable energy, health, security, and investment. These engagements are expected to deepen Ghana’s role in global partnerships and secure greater opportunities for the nation’s youth.

The visits will also include sessions with business communities and investors to showcase Ghana’s economic prospects and invite long-term cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, ICT, and green technology.

Government officials say the international trips are not only symbolic of Ghana’s resilience after recent tragedies but also a reaffirmation of the country’s commitment to progress, peace, and stronger international ties.

Ghanaians have welcomed the President’s decision to resume active duty, with many describing it as a step towards healing the nation while securing its future.
