President Akufo-Addo Appoints Hon. Afenyo-Markin as ECG Board Chairman

President Akufo-Addo has appointed Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin as the new Board Chairman of Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (ECG). The appointment was detailed in a letter signed by the Executive Secretary to the President, Nana Asante Bediatuo.

Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, the newly appointed Board Chairman, will be taking over from Herbert Krapa, who has transitioned to the role of Minister of State at the Energy Ministry

Afenyo-Markin currently serves as the Majority Leader in the Ghanaian Parliament and represents the Effutu constituency in the Central Region of Ghana. It is expected that his extensive political and legislative experience positions him well to lead ECG towards achieving its goals of providing reliable and efficient electricity services to Ghanaians.

The letter from the Executive Secretary emphasized the necessity of taking all required steps to ensure that the appointment complies with the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992) and the company’s regulations.

President Akufo-Addo extended his best wishes to Hon. Afenyo-Markin for his new role, expressing confidence in his ability to drive positive change and strengthen the operational efficiency of ECG.
