The Ningo Traditional Council has strongly opposed reports of an alleged attempt to establish a kingdom by a self-proclaimed Igbo king within their jurisdiction.

In a formal letter addressed to the Minister for the Interior through Hon. Sam George, the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, the Council described the claim as unfounded and a potential threat to public peace.

Following an emergency meeting on Tuesday, 8 July 2025, the Council reaffirmed that the Ningo Paramountcy, under the leadership of HRM Nene Osragbo Djangmah XII, does not intend to accommodate any foreign rule on its land. They stressed that no land within Old Ningo along the Tema-Aflao Road has been sold to the said individual or his associates.
The Traditional Council urged the Minister to deploy lawful means to investigate the matter, noting that the youth and chiefs of the area are prepared to resist any such attempts to undermine the local authority. They further called on the District Chief Executive of the Ningo-Prampram District Assembly to ensure no permits are granted for any construction associated with the so-called kingdom.

In the letter, Nene Osragbo Djangmah XII reiterated that while the Ningo area has always welcomed settlers from various nationalities, no individual or group has ever attempted to establish a sovereign entity within their community. The Chief appealed to the government to act swiftly to prevent any unrest.
The Ningo Traditional Council assured the Interior Minister of their continued cooperation but called for urgent intervention to preserve peace and uphold the authority of traditional institutions in the area.
