The National School Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA) has been given the green light to carry out a nationwide inspection of 1,000 selected basic schools under the Ghana Accountability for Learning Outcomes Project (GALOP).
The inspections, scheduled to take place between 23rd June and 18th July 2025, will be conducted across all 16 regions of the country. The exercise forms part of efforts to strengthen transparency, enhance learning outcomes, and ensure that basic schools benefiting from GALOP meet required educational standards.
In a directive issued by the Acting Deputy Director-General (Q&A) of the Ghana Education Service, Dr. Munawaru Issahaque, the inspection will focus on key indicators critical to school improvement and learner development.

The key areas to be assessed include:
Schools rated “good” or “outstanding” according to national inspection benchmarks.
Teacher and pupil attendance rates.
Teacher-to-pupil ratio.
Quality of school infrastructure.
“Regular inspections ensure we hold ourselves accountable to the very standards we set. GALOP is not just about funding—it’s about measurable progress in our schools,” Dr. Issahaque.
According to the directive, District Directors have been asked to inform all heads of GALOP beneficiary schools and ensure full cooperation throughout the inspection period.
GALOP is a flagship initiative aimed at supporting underperforming basic schools to improve foundational learning, equity, and resource allocation through data-driven strategies.
