MTN Ghana has assured customers that its Mobile Money (MoMo) service is safe and secure. This comes after weeks of social media reports and rumors suggesting that the company’s system had been hacked and that customers’ wallets were at risk.
In a message shared with users, MTN strongly denied any system compromise. “No customer wallet has been affected,” the statement said, urging users to disregard such claims.
The company reminded customers to stay alert and protect their accounts by following these important tips:
- Never share your MoMo PIN or OTP (one-time password).
- Do not click on strange or suspicious links.
- Don’t respond to unexpected calls asking for your MoMo details.
Y’ello Valued Customer, MTN MoMo remains safe and secure. Disregard any claims about system compromise. No customer wallet has been affected. Your funds are safe. Avoid sharing your PIN or OTPs, do not click on any suspicious links or tolerate any unsolicited calls.
It would be recalled that in recent weeks, various social media platforms were filled with claims that MTN’s servers had been breached, putting customers’ personal data and funds at risk.
Some users even claimed they had lost money from their wallets. Is MTN’s latest communication only meant to calm fears and stop the spread of news?
