The Ministry of Education has launched an investigation into allegations that places at some senior high schools can be bought for money.
The probe follows a widely circulated social media post claiming that placement at Aburi Girls’ Senior High School was being sold for GH₵15,000.
Officials have dismissed the claim as false, warning that it risks undermining public confidence in the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS). The Ministry stressed that placement is free of charge and that no payment is required at any stage.

Deputy Education Minister Dr Clement Abas Apaak said attempts to contact the woman linked to the post had failed, as her social media account was deactivated shortly after publication. He added that other anonymous accounts had also been spreading similar allegations.
The Ministry is working with the National Security Secretariat, the Cyber Security Authority, and other agencies to track down those behind the claims.

Parents and students are being urged to report anyone demanding money for school placements through the following official hotlines.
054 154 8223 (Calls)
024 490 8957 (WhatsApp)
Offenders, the Ministry says, will face swift disciplinary and legal action.

“The integrity and transparency of Ghana’s school placement system must be protected,” Dr Apaak said. “We will not allow unscrupulous people to exploit families.”
