Mfantsipim School has won the prestigious 2024 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), emerging as champions in a closely contested final.
The final competition featured three top-performing schools: Mfantsipim School, St. Augustine’s College, and Keta Senior High School, each of which demonstrated impressive knowledge and skill. The grand finale took place on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the University of Cape Coast campus, attracting a large audience and generating excitement among students, teachers, and alumni.
At the end of the fifth and final round, Mfantsipim School triumphed with a narrow victory, scoring 47 points to claim the first place. They edged past St. Augustine’s College, which finished with 46 points, just one point behind, highlighting the intense competition between the two Cape Coast schools. Keta Senior High School finished in third place, earning 32 points after a spirited performance.
Keta SHS, finishing in third place, demonstrated commendable resilience and was awarded a cash prize of 2,000 Ghana Cedis as part of the Goil Super Bonanza for answering two riddles correctly. Keta SHS was presented with a bronze medal with a cash prize of 35,000 Ghana Cedis.
St. Augustine’s College, though narrowly missing the title, proudly claimed the second-place position in the 2024 NSMQ. St. Augustine’s College also received a silver medal with a cash prize of 50,000 Ghana Cedis.
Mfantsipim School, in addition to their overall victory, won 1,000 Ghana Cedis in the Goil Super Bonanza by correctly answering one riddle, showcasing their skill in this segment.
Mfantsipim School was honored with the Pepsodent High Scoring School award, receiving a cash prize of 10,000 Ghana Cedis in recognition of their outstanding performance and high scores throughout the competition. This accolade reflects their academic excellence and consistency in preparation for the NSMQ.
Mfantsipim School was finally crowned the 2024 NSMQ champions, receiving the coveted trophy amid cheers and celebrations from their supporters. Mfantsipim School was presented with other cash prizes.
This victory adds to the school’s legacy in the NSMQ and reinforces their reputation as one of Ghana’s top academic institutions. With this win, Mfantsipim School continues to inspire future generations of students to pursue excellence in science and mathematics.
