A 48-year-old man, Hanson Osei, has been arrested for operating a makeshift “clinic” in his chamber and hall room for over 12 years, despite lacking any recognised medical licence.
According to report, during police interrogation he freely admitted to attending to patients without formal training or certification.
The Medical and Dental Council has confirmed the arrest and warned that such illegal practices pose serious risks to public health.
Authorities say this is one in a series of recent crackdowns as four individuals have already been arrested between 2024 and mid-2025 for similar offences.
In past years, other fake practitioners have been caught in various parts of the country, raising concerns about regulatory enforcement and oversight.
The MDC urges the public to seek care only from approved health facilities and to report suspected quacks to relevant authorities.
Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing into his network, past patients, and financial proceeds from the illicit operation.
