The management of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi in Ghana, has instituted a STUDENT APPRECIATION DAY dubbed the Vice-Chancellor’s Students’ Excellence Awards (VCSEA). KNUST is set to present the 2nd Edition of the 2024 Vice Chancellor’s Excellence Awards (VCSEA 2024). The theme for the occasion is “Celebrating Achievements Beyond Boundaries: Recognizing Students’ Excellence.”

These awards aim to recognize students who have distinguished themselves in various aspects of student life at KNUST. The Second Edition seeks to reward performances between 2023 and 2024.

Purpose of Awards

The key objectives of these awards are to:

  • Acknowledge and promote student academic excellence: By highlighting the academic achievements of students, the awards aim to inspire a culture of scholastic dedication and intellectual rigor.
  • Provide formal recognition of student achievements: This formal acknowledgment serves as an important milestone for students, affirming their hard work and dedication.

  • Cadet: Recognizing the dedication and discipline of students involved in cadet programs.
  • Peer Counseling: Celebrating students who have made significant contributions to the well-being of their peers through counseling and support.
  • Sports: Honoring athletes who have achieved excellence in sports, representing the university in various competitions.
  • Innovations and Patents: Recognizing students who have made significant innovations and secured patents, showcasing their creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • Entrepreneurship with Measurable Outcomes: Celebrating student entrepreneurs who have created successful ventures with demonstrable outcomes.
  • Volunteerism: Acknowledging students who have dedicated their time and effort to volunteer work, making a positive impact on the community.
  • Creative Arts: Recognizing talents in the creative arts, including music, dance, theater, and visual arts.
  • All-Rounded Exemplary Student: Celebrating students who excel in multiple areas, demonstrating a well-rounded character.
