Lion Kills 14-Year-Old Girl Near Nairobi National Park in Kenya

A 14-year-old girl has died after being attacked by a lioness near Nairobi, Kenya. The incident occurred at a ranch close to the southern boundary of Nairobi National Park, a popular wildlife sanctuary known for its proximity to the capital.

The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) confirmed the girl was “snatched” by the lioness on Saturday night and tragically lost her life in the attack. Authorities said they were working closely with the affected family and local communities to provide support and prevent future incidents.

“This is a deeply painful situation, and our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time,” KWS said in a statement. They added that efforts were underway to track and possibly relocate the lioness to prevent further danger.

Nairobi National Park is unique for being a wildlife haven bordering a major city. But such proximity has also led to growing concerns over human-wildlife conflict as urban expansion continues.

The tragedy has renewed calls for better fencing, wildlife corridors, and stronger community engagement to prevent similar encounters in the future.
