The Kumawu District Education Directorate, in collaboration with the Early Childhood Unit, is set to celebrate the 2025 International Children’s Day with Kindergarten (KG) 1 and KG 2 learners across the district. This year’s celebration promises to be both exciting and impactful, as it highlights the importance of recognising and supporting the unique abilities of every child.

The 2025 International Children’s Day Celebration is scheduled for Thursday, November 20, 2025, and will be observed under the theme “Different Minds: Equal Worth – Celebrating Every Child’s Unique Brilliance.” This theme places emphasis on inclusivity and the need to appreciate children with diverse learning abilities. In line with this focus, the sub-theme for the event is “Creating Awareness of Dyslexia and Neurodiversity.” The aim is to deepen understanding among educators, parents, and the general public on how to identify and support children who process information differently.

The event will be graced by important personalities, including Mr. Kwame Oduro-Owusu, the District Director of Education–Kumawu; Madam Esther Amoakoh, the District Early Childhood Coordinator; Mr. Emmanuel Nyadedzi, the District Sports and P.E. Coordinator; Mr. Joseph Mensah, the District Examinations Coordinator and former District Early Childhood Coordinator; staff of the DEO; teachers; among others.

The District Director will deliver a brief address to mark the commencement of the program. His address is expected to highlight the importance of the International Children’s Day celebration and the theme chosen for this year’s event.

As part of the day’s activities, the Early Childhood Unit will organise a colourful float and a series of fun games for learners. This event will involve KG 1 and KG 2 pupils from both public and private schools within Kumawu in the Kumawu Circuit. Schools participating in the float are required to select ten (10) learners. The float is expected to begin promptly at 8:00 a.m., starting from Abotanso Junction, moving towards Kumawu Roundabout, and returning to Chief’s Park, where the main activities will take place. The float is designed not only to create public awareness about the celebration but also to give the children an exciting and memorable experience.

Guess what?

Right after the float, various fun and competitive games will be organised for the learners. These include football matches for both boys and girls, sack race, lime and spoon, and a 30-metre race, all aimed at promoting teamwork, creativity, physical fitness, and social interaction among the children. These games will offer an opportunity for learners to build confidence and enjoy a sense of accomplishment.

The Kumawu District Education Directorate encourages all schools within the district to celebrate the day within their respective schools. Schools are urged to design activities that reflect the main theme and sub-theme to ensure that all learners benefit from the essence of the celebration. Through this year’s event, the Directorate hopes to inspire a community that embraces diversity and celebrates every child’s uniqueness.
