Ibrahim Mahama Sues Manasseh Azure Awuni?

Recent rumors circulating has it that businessman Ibrahim Mahama has issued a seven-day ultimatum to investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni to delete pages 89 and 90 of his book “The President Ghana Never Got”. This according to the rumours is because the information contained in those pages is inaccurate.

However, Manasseh took to Twitter to set the record straight.

Manasseh clarified that while he has received a letter from Ibrahim Mahama’s lawyers, the situation is not as dramatic as some reports suggest.

According to the Media Trainer who is also a Journalism Fellow at Harvard University, the letter addresses only a specific paragraph in the chapter on the economy.

Manasseh has forwarded the lawyers’ demands to his legal team for further review.

He assured his followers that the matter will be handled appropriately. He emphasized the importance of sticking to the facts and avoiding sensationalism.

The book, “The President Ghana Never Got” since its launch has generated some interesting conversations on the streets of Ghana. The launch which took place at the Christ the King Parish Hall, Opposite Jubilee House in Accra on Thursday8th August, 2024 saw prominent people in attendance.

A few days after the launch, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (often referred to as NAPO), the running mate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), had the honor of receiving copies of Manasseh’s new book on behalf of the NPP Presidential Candidate, His Excellency Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Dr. Opoku Prempeh also took the opportunity to encourage Manasseh Awuni and the media to exercise caution and responsibility in their reporting and expression of opinions.

This call for circumspection is part of a broader effort to strengthen Ghana’s democratic processes. He highlighted the importance of thoughtful and balanced reporting as a means to foster a more informed and engaged public.

Manasseh’s X page has since been flooded with interesting highlights from his “controversial” book. His followers have been expressing mixed reactions to his posts on the extracts from his book.
