Ghanaians will soon enjoy larger data bundles at no extra cost, following successful negotiations between the government and major telecom operators.
The announcement was made on Tuesday, 10th June 2025, by the Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, during a press briefing in Accra.
He revealed that, starting Tuesday, 1st July 2025, telecom companies will implement a 10–15% increase in data package volumes across the board. The decision, he explained, is the result of direct engagements with telecom CEOs aimed at improving digital access and ensuring better value for consumers.
“I am pleased to announce that my engagement with the CEOs has resulted in the following specific measures,” the Minister

Hon. Samuel George acknowledged that these changes come at a financial cost to network providers, but praised their cooperation and long-term view.
“I am aware these increases will come at considerable cost to the network operators,” he noted. “However, I am glad that our engagements and consultations are bearing fruit for the Ghanaian people.”
He emphasized, the new data volumes reflect government’s broader goal of promoting digital inclusion, supporting economic productivity, and closing the internet access gap across urban and rural communities.
Public awareness campaigns are expected to follow, with the National Communications Authority (NCA) monitoring implementation and compliance
