Ghanaian boxer Ernest Akushey popularly known as “Bahubali” is said to have passed away on the morning of September 23, 2025, following a promising but brutal bout against Jacob Dickson.
He had been hospitalized at LEKMA following internal bleeding and complications from the fight.
Akushey had built a reputation as a fearless, hard-hitting fighter who has earned admiration in Ghana’s boxing circuits.
The World Boxing Council (WBC) has expressed deep sorrow over his untimely exit.
Calls are already rising within the boxing fraternity for stronger medical safeguards and post-fight monitoring to prevent similar losses in the future.
