In a major boost to youth employment and emergency response, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) have signed a Memorandum of Undertaking (MOU) to recruit 5,000 Fire Service Assistants across the country.
The agreement, signed at the Ministry of the Interior, was overseen by the Minister for the Interior and witnessed by the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, Hon. George Opare Addo. The Acting Chief Fire Officer, Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong, and YEA CEO, Malik Basintale, signed on behalf of their respective institutions.
The collaboration aims to strengthen fire safety and emergency services while creating sustainable job opportunities for Ghanaian youth. It also supports the government’s broader 24-hour economy agenda, which promotes increased productivity and expanded economic activity beyond regular working hours.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Interior Minister expressed confidence in the initiative’s ability to drive national development and youth empowerment.
Both agencies pledged their commitment to ensuring the successful rollout and long-term impact of the programme.
