As a way of boosting the power supply in Tamale, the Ghanaian government has signed a $13.44 million grant agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to enhance power supply stability in Tamale City.

Reports indicate that, through this partnership, JICA will support the construction of a new substation and power distribution lines, strengthening the region’s electricity infrastructure.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Minister for Finance, on behalf of the Government of Ghana, and Her Excellency Suzuki Momoko, Chief Representative of JICA, on behalf of Japan.

It was emphasized that the project is a major step towards economic development, job creation, and improved livelihoods in the Northern Region by ensuring that businesses, households, and essential services have access to reliable electricity.

The project, once completed, is expected to bridge Ghana’s energy gap and boost industrialization within the region.
