Ghana Armed Forces Helicopter Crashes at Adansi Akrofuom – Occupants Feared Dead

A Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) helicopter that went missing earlier today, Wednesday, August 6, 2025 has reportedly crashed near Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region. Initial reports suggest fatalities are feared among the eight occupants onboard—three crew members and five passengers.

The aircraft, which was en route to Obuasi on a military assignment, lost radar contact earlier in the day, prompting an urgent search and rescue operation by the Ghana Armed Forces in collaboration with the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority and emergency services.

Eyewitnesses in the Adansi Akrofuom area reported seeing smoke and hearing a loud crash in a nearby forest zone.

Rescue teams have since accessed the crash site, but the GAF is yet to officially confirm the identities or status of the occupants.

In a brief update, the Armed Forces said, “We are currently at the crash site conducting recovery operations. The necessary protocols are being observed, and an official statement will follow shortly.”

The news has sent shockwaves across the nation, with many taking to social media to express sorrow and prayers for the victims and their families.
