The management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) Headquarters has engaged with the Ghana Executive of the Private School Associations. The meeting was held in Accra on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.
The purpose of the meeting was to explore the use of private school infrastructure to support the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) programme as a means of reducing congestion in public senior high schools and potentially eliminating the double-track system.
Reports suggest that representatives from GNAPS and CHOPS expressed enthusiasm, indicating their readiness and willingness to collaborate with GES in placing students in their schools under the Free SHS programme.
It is important to note that the government has already declared its intention to include private senior high schools in the Free SHS initiative, which has been running in Ghana for the past eight years.
