The Ghana Education Service (GES) has extended the deadline for the 2025 school selection process to Wednesday, 25th June 2025, giving final-year Junior High School (JHS) students more time to carefully consider their choices.
GES emphasized, the extension comes in response to the recent inclusion of private Senior High Schools (SHSs) in the selection process, an important move that widens the range of educational opportunities available to candidates.
According to the Director of Schools and Instructions Division, Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, GES urged all heads of schools to inform students and parents about the updated deadline. Regional and District Directors have also been asked to ensure that this new timeline is effectively communicated.

“We strongly encourage students to engage with their headteachers, parents, and guardians to make thoughtful and informed decisions about their second-cycle education,” the statement noted.
GES assured the public that all existing guidelines and procedures remain unchanged, and the additional time is solely to ensure that every student, regardless of background has a fair chance to weigh all available options.

A supplementary register of newly added private SHSs has also been released to help candidates navigate the expanded list of schools.
