Ethiopian Airlines has announced its intention to construct one of Africa’s largest airports near Bishoftu, Ethiopia.
The announcement follows the airline’s agreement with the African Development Bank Group to secure $7.8 billion in funding for the project.
Reports suggest that the new airport facility will have four runways, a handling capacity of 100 million passengers per year, and parking space for 270 aircraft.

The project is expected to be completed by 2029.
Ethiopia envisions using the airport as an aviation hub for for business in the Eastern Africa corridor.
