The Ministry of Education has successfully inaugurated a five-member Audit Committee to strengthen transparency, accountability, and sound financial management within the sector.
Dr. Clement Abass Apaak, the Deputy Minister for Education, inaugurated the Audit Committee on behalf of Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister for Education, on Friday, February 20, 2026, at the Ministry of Education Conference Hall in Accra.
Dr. Clement Abass Apaak delivered remarks on behalf of the Minister, describing the inauguration of the Audit Committee as a key step in reinforcing good governance. He noted that the reconstitution of the Committee is in line with Section 86(1) of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921).
Dr. Apaak emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to the prudent use of public resources and expressed confidence that the Committee’s independent oversight will strengthen internal controls, risk management, and compliance with audit recommendations. The Deputy Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency administered the Oath of Office and the Oath of Secrecy to the members.
The Committee selected a chairperson, who assured management of the Committee’s readiness to work collaboratively to improve systems and enhance financial discipline within the Ministry.
