The Most Reverend John Kobina Louis, Auxiliary Bishop of the Accra Catholic Archdiocese, has urged Christians to embrace Easter as a period of moral renewal, forgiveness, and unwavering faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In his Easter message delivered on Wednesday, Most Reverend John Kobina Louis emphasized that Easter is not merely a time for festivities but a sacred period that honors the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for humanity’s sins.
He highlighted that Easter should signify hope, renewal, forgiveness, holiness, and steadfast faith in the resurrection, which he described as the cornerstone of Christian belief. Citing 1 Corinthians 15:12-14,17-20, he remarked, “No Resurrection, No Christianity! and No Easter, No (Christian) Feast!”
The Most Reverend noted that the resurrection of Jesus carries immense spiritual significance, serving as a beacon of hope amid suffering and uncertainty. He stated that it assures believers that death is not the end and that through faith, there is the promise of eternal life.
He encouraged Christians to live lives of purpose, resilience, and unwavering faith, recognizing that they are part of a greater divine plan. He also stressed that the resurrection brought unity, as through the cross, God created one common race and one family for Himself from all the races of the world.
The Most Reverend John Kobina Louis called on individuals to become ambassadors of peace, urging everyone to fight against evil in their lives and strive to become better Christians and renewed citizens. He concluded by expressing hope that the peace of the risen Christ would dwell in people’s hearts.
