Daddy Lumba’s Family Announces One-Week Commemoration Ceremony at UG Stadium on August 30

The Ekuona Royal Family, the Fosu Family, and the children of the late Highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, have announced the details of his One-Week Commemoration Ceremony.

In a solemn show of tradition and respect, the family paid courtesy visits to Chief of Staff Hon. Julius Debrah, Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and Former President John Agyekum Kufuor. During these visits, they officially shared the heartbreaking news of Daddy Lumba’s passing and formally invited the leaders to join the commemoration.

The One-Week Ceremony has been scheduled for Saturday, 30th August 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium, Legon. The venue is expected to host a large gathering of family, friends, dignitaries, and fans who will come together to celebrate the extraordinary life of one of Ghana’s most iconic musicians.

Daddy Lumba’s music career spanned decades, shaping Highlife into a timeless sound that resonated across generations. From love songs to socially conscious tracks, his voice became the soundtrack of countless Ghanaian households, weddings, and national celebrations.

For many, his passing is not just the loss of a musician but the departure of a cultural giant whose artistry helped define Ghana’s music identity. His influence has inspired younger generations of musicians and cemented his place as an irreplaceable figure in the nation’s cultural history.

The upcoming commemoration is expected to blend grief with celebration, as fans will gather not only to mourn his absence but also to honour the unforgettable legacy he has left behind.
