Controversy Over Disallowed Inter Goal in 3–3 Draw with Barcelona

In the UEFA Champions League semi final first leg between Barcelona and Inter Milan, a disallowed fourth goal for Inter has sparked major controversy. The goal which would have put Inter 4–3 ahead late in the game was ruled out for offside after a VAR review.

According to the semi automated VAR system, the Inter attacker was ahead of the last defender by the slimmest of margins which reportedly just a toe. However, many fans and analysts are challenging that verdict after viewing the animated offside footage.

They claim that a Barcelona defender’s body  possibly his foot or shoulder, was actually closer to the goal line than the Inter attacker. These animations have been widely circulated on social media which has led to heated debates.  Critics argue the technology may have misread or misrepresented the position due to angle limitations or calibration issues. Some fans even accuse UEFA of favoring Barcelona, calling it a “robbery” or a “cheat” against Inter.

Despite the outcry, the referee’s decision based on VAR’s judgment stood and the game ended 3–3. With tensions high as all eyes now turn to the decisive second leg in Milan.
