Chelsea is stepping up their pursuit of Ghanaian forward Mohammed Kudus as the team explore a bold player plus cash offer to land the 24 year old from West Ham United during this summer’s transfer window. Kudus impact in West Ham since August 2023 via a £38 million deal from Ajax has been massive as he has registered 19 goals and 10 assists in 80 appearances.
According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea plan to include goalkeeper Robert Sánchez in the package to help sweeten the deal and potentially reduce a fee that could otherwise rise to £70 million.
The price aligns with West Ham’s valuation, though they’ve reportedly rebuffed initial proposals involving Sánchez and even Kiernan Dewsbury Hall.
The move comes amid West Ham’s broader plans for a summer rebuild overseen by Graham Potter aiming to raise funds by offloading players including Kudus. Despite his quality, his second season saw a dip with just five Premier League goals and three assists in 2024/25. Yet, the figures don’t erase his prior form with the 8 league goals and 9 assists in his debut Premier League season.
Kudus is popular on the market with Betfair listing Chelsea as 4/5 favorites, Newcastle at 5/2, Arsenal 9/2, and Liverpool 13/2. Notably, his contract features an £85 million release clause for Premier League clubs and a whopping £120 million clause for Saudi suitors.
If Chelsea succeed with their innovative trade proposal, it would mark another huge signing under the ambitious management of Todd Boehly and Enzo Maresca. But West Ham remain firm as they have prioritized maximum financial return whiles gearing up for new signings.
