Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of Ghana, joined the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, to commemorate the birth of Prophet Mohammed. The 2024 National Maulid, an annual occasion to celebrate the birth of the Prophet, took place on Saturday, October 5, 2024, in Accra.
The event brought together prominent Muslim leaders, scholars, and fellow believers from across the country. Dr. Bawumia, shared in the solemn celebration alongside the revered National Chief Imam and other notable dignitaries.
In his address, Dr. Bawumia encouraged all Muslims to draw lessons and inspiration from the exemplary life of Prophet Mohammed, particularly his virtues of peace, tolerance, and compassion. He emphasized that these qualities are essential to fostering harmony and peaceful coexistence in Ghana, especially during critical periods as the nation draws closer to the general elections in December.
As the nation prepares for the polls, Dr. Bawumia made a heartfelt appeal to political leaders, candidates, and supporters, urging them to uphold civility and responsibility in their speeches and actions. He reminded the audience of the importance of preserving the peace that God has bestowed upon the country, calling for unity and mutual respect in political discourse.
The 2024 National Maulid not only provided an opportunity for reflection on the life and teachings of Prophet Mohammed but also served as a platform to reinforce the need for peace and unity in Ghana.
