On Labour Day, hundreds of young people from Asanteman gathered to perform traditional rites, calling on the spirits of their ancestors to intervene against what they described as persistent acts of disrespect toward the Asante Kingdom and its leader, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The symbolic event, held under the banner “Asanteman Kyidom”, was a powerful expression of cultural pride and frustration. Participants, clad in traditional attire, invoked ancestral powers to spiritually defend the dignity of the Asantehene, whom they say has recently faced a wave of verbal attacks and public disrespect.
Spokespersons for the group said the Asantehene has long remained focused on development, peace, and unity, and does not deserve the level of insults and disregard some individuals and groups have shown in public discourse. They insisted that disrespecting the Asantehene is an insult to the entire Asante Kingdom and will not be tolerated.

The group also used the occasion to remind Ghanaians of the Asantehene’s contributions to national development, education, and traditional leadership, urging those who disagree with him to do so with civility and respect.
