Another 53,000 “Separated Names” Found on Gov’t Payroll – What’s Going On?

Ato Forson on 53,000 Separated Names on Gov't Payroll

On July 25, 2025, in Accra, Ghana, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson indicated that the government payroll contains 53,000 “separated names.”

In explaining the term “separated names,” the Finance Minister stated that these include unqualified individuals, retirees, and deceased persons. He emphasized that the validation of such unauthorized individuals on the payroll is causing significant financial losses to the state.

According to Dr. Forson, these findings were revealed in reports by the Auditor-General. He therefore issued a strong caution to those involved in this criminal activity.

He further indicated that all individuals implicated will be pursued, and appropriate actions and sanctions will be taken in due course.
