Apam Senior High School (SHS) in the Central Region of Ghana has emerged as the champion of the 68th Independence Day Quiz Competition.
The contest, which tested students’ knowledge of history, governance, and civic issues, was broadcast live by GTV on the popular “What Do You Know” programme on Sunday, March 2, 2025, in Accra.
The competition featured four competitive schools: Apam SHS, Achiase SHS, Damongo SHS, and Kintampo SHS. Each school demonstrated remarkable intellect, attentiveness, and quick thinking as they tackled a series of thought-provoking questions. The battle was intense, with participants showcasing their deep understanding of various subjects related to Ghana’s independence history and governance.
At the end of the competition, Apam SHS won the competition with an outstanding score of 27 points, outshining the other schools with their impressive performance.
Final Scores:
- Apam SHS – 27 points
- Achiase SHS – 19 points
- Kintampo SHS – 14 points
- Damongo SHS – 6 points
Awards and Cash Prizes
The winning school, Apam SHS, was presented with a trophy from the Ghana Education Service (GES), a plaque from the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), and a cash prize of GH¢5,000.00 from GES.







Achiase SHS, which placed second, received a plaque from NCCE and a cash prize of GH¢4,000.00 from GES.
Kintampo SHS, the third-place winner, was awarded a plaque from NCCE and a cash prize of GH¢3,500.00 from GES.
Damongo SHS, which placed fourth, also received a plaque from NCCE along with a cash prize of GH¢3,000.00 from GES.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) expressed its appreciation to the management and teachers of the four participating schools for their guidance and support of the students. GES also thanked other partners of the programme, particularly the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), for their immense support.
