The Ghanaian Government has issued a press release to inform the general public, particularly public sector workers, about the ongoing negotiations for the determination of the 2025 Minimum Wage.
The press release stated that a Tripartite Committee, comprising the Government, Employers, and Organized Labour, commenced negotiations on the 2025 Minimum Wage on Monday, February 3, 2025.
The meeting aims to finalize negotiations on the minimum wage, after which discussions on base pay (public sector salaries) will follow.
The letter emphasized that negotiations for both the minimum wage and base pay for the 2025 financial year are behind schedule, as they were originally expected to be completed by the end of April 2024, in accordance with the Public Financial Management (PFM) Act.
Consequently, the Government is urging these social partners – Government, Employers, and Organized Labour – to work expeditiously to complete the negotiations in time to inform the 2025 Budget.
