A filmmaker from Hampshire, England, named George Harper, has won a special award on TikTok! He was named the Rising Star Creator of the Year at the first-ever TikTok awards in the UK.
George is 31 years old and makes stunning travel videos that look like mini-movies. He films places in the UK and other countries like Morocco and Spain to inspire people to explore and even try filmmaking. Some of his videos have been watched over three million times, and he has more than 55,000 followers on TikTok!
When George got an email saying he was nominated for the award, he didn’t believe it at first. He thought it might be fake, but then realized it was true! “I never thought I’d be nominated, let alone win,” he said.
The awards ceremony took place in Shepherds Bush, London, with more than 800 people in the audience, including other creators and media stars. It was also live-streamed on TikTok. George said, “It was a big night with a red carpet and lots of amazing people.” Michelle Visage presented the awards at the TikTok event.
