Lawyer Kwabena Boateng emerged victorious in the NPP primaries conducted on April 13, 2024, within the Ejisu Constituency of the Ashanti region in Ghana. Former GFA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi lagged significantly, securing only 35 votes.
Initially, there was speculation that the remaining votes would be divided between Dr. Evans Duah and Boateng, potentially jeopardizing his chances. However, Dr. Evans Duah managed to gain only 63 votes, clearing the path for Boateng’s resounding victory over all contenders.
This primary election was held in preparation for the by-election in Ejisu, prompted by the unfortunate passing of the NPP Member of Parliament, Dr. John Kumah.
